Youth Educational Scholarship Information

 

The American Mule Association (AMA) offers a total of two (2) educational scholarships in the amount of $1000 each. Eligible recipients are a graduating high school senior or individual 18 years or younger who is pursuing any field of study and will be attending a 4 year, 2 year, or vocational school. The applicant must either be a junior member of the AMA or a part of a family membership. The eligible AMA member must have been in good standing for at least 12 months prior to the date of application.
 

Submission Instructions: The Youth Scholarship Application Packet to be submitted for scholarship award consideration consists of: The Youth Scholarship Application, one essay, two letters of recommendation, and a copy of grade transcripts for the past 2 years. The Application Packet will be accepted between March 15 th and April 15 th (postmark dates) of the current year. The application packet is to be mailed to: Secretary, American Mule Association, PO Box 1349, Yerington, Nevada 89447. To be considered for a Scholarship award, applicants must complete the Application as instructed, attached all required materials, and submit within the listed postmark dates.
 

Scholarship Award Selection Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their community service, financial need, quality of character, academic performance, potential to achieve stated goals, involvement with equines, and participation in AMA and other equine events.
 

Award Distribution: Scholarship applicants will be notified no later than June 15th of the current year. If selected for a scholarship, the recipient must show proof of enrollment in the 4 year, 2 year, or vocational school to receive the scholarship money. Scholarship money awarded must be used within 12 months of award, or the award monies are forfeited.

11. Letters of Recommendation: Attach two letters of recommendation from teachers, 4-H leaders, FFA leaders, or other individual in similar supervisory role. The letters of recommendation should address, but are not limited to, your potential to achieve stated goals and your quality of character.
